Job Description
Kato Engineering, a business unit of Emerson Industrial Automation, is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician in Mankato, MN.
Position Objective:
Develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods, and controls. Operate CAD/CAM software to design tooling and generate CNC programs. Must be self motivated and work with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:

Continuous improvement - By utilizing the knowledge and feedback of all associates, we drive continuous improvement in our results regarding safety, quality, cost, training and operational efficiency. This will be driven and sustained through an employee involvement/suggestion program.
Quality - Improve our internal and external quality results targeting zero defects in all our processes. This will extend to robust supplier development and selection ensuring that they are held to the same standard of zero defects.
Exceed customer requirements/expectations - This will apply to quality, delivery, flexibility, and speed of implementation with respect to all customer interactions.
Provide programs to the shop floor in support of CNC Programmer to be on time.
Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of processes and related equipment.
Interface with management, design engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes and tooling to ensure efficient production methods and quality results. Promote Design for Manufacturability on an on-going basis with Engineering.
Design, develop, test and/or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods. This may include development of funding requests, scheduling project tasks, and managing budget. Interface with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of machinery and equipment according to specifications and quality standards.
Manage multiple projects from start-up to completion.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Analyse drawing, specifications, and tooling to determine program input data such as hole size, tool size, reference points, and direction of machine cutting paths.
Maintain integrity and promote enhancements of programming system. This includes implementing system improvements and coordinating Engineering change revisions.
Train machine operators on program down loading and set up techniques and applications.
Check and interpret data from machining operations, consolidate data, prepare reports, forms and schedules as required.
Travel required to assist in product DFMA and/or product transfer between Reynosa, MX, Lexington, TN, and Mankato facilities. May also require travel for training and other business needs.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
Associate''s Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or 3-5 years related experience and/or training.
Due to US military requirements, the candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
Proficient in CAD/CAM machine programming, machining tooling and design, Mastercam experience a plus. Computers i.e. Microsoft Office.
Problem analysis and resolution, have knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and machining practices.
Ability to work well with vendors, customers, and employees.
