_Staff Auditor_
This position is responsible for conducting routine and limited non-routine high risk audits or reviews. The functional areas of responsibility include operations, compliance, strategic and financial reporting. This position works under the guidance of more experienced auditors on complex audits involving areas considered high risk to the Company. This position (after training and development) will independently plan and execute audits, and manage audit budgets and schedules. Candidates should possess a general understanding of the Company's business operations, be able to gather information through interviews, review of records, reports and data analysis and make assessment of adherence to company or regulatory policies and procedures. Candidates must be able to clearly and confidently communicate audit results both verbally and in writing and to clearly document work consistent with professional standards and departmental practices.
This position will be located in Gulfport, Mississippi. Overnight travel throughout the Southern Company System is required.

_Job Responsibilities_
Apply business acumen in all aspects of the job
Gain knowledge of the business areas under review and apply that knowledge to assist management in identifying and monitoring strategic, financial, operational and compliance risks
Team effectively across the internal audit department and the co-sourcing partner, including knowledge sharing
Build and sustain professional relationships with audit clients and management
Manage assigned responsibilities effectively to meet project budgets and make productive use of time
Collaborate effectively with audit team members on individual assignments or departmental initiatives
Participate in appropriate external organizations to achieve personal and professional development and to share leading practices within the organization
_Educational Requirements_
Bachelor''s degree in Accounting or related field required.
Advanced degree or professional certification desired but not required (requirement for successful candidate to obtain and /or maintain professional certification upon selection)
_Experience Requirements_
Internal Auditing and/ or Internal Controls & Compliance experience is desired, but not required
Experience in Utility Accounting is desired, but not required
