System Engineering Manager

SCOPE OF POSITION:
This Position requires supervision of Network Administrators/Engineers and Systems Administrators/Engineers. Capable of working both independently and within a team environment. Decisions within the incumbent's control are those related to technical design and installation of equipment, and daily operation of the work group. Decisions must fall within parameters established by IT infrastructure and Change Management process. Position creates and organizes a rotating on call escalation schedule. Position will communicate frequently with Network Operations Center, development, Security and architectural staff as part of on-going operational support role.
Position participates in the planning and deployment of the capital budget to provide quality service, ensure customer satisfaction, increase revenues and competitive posture, while maintaining operational expenses at, or below established levels. Position is also responsible for on-going equipment inventory and management of third party support contracts, with similar goals as the capital budgeting.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
A combination of a BA/BS degree or experience and training in Engineering and/or Information Technologies to be equivalent to 8
years' experience, which demonstrates an in-depth working knowledge of Windows and Linux and/or Solaris Operating Systems administration. 7
years' experience with large scale, multi-tenant storage technologies such as FC, NFS, iSCSI, including network based block replication, especially using NetApp filers. 7
years' experience with large scale, multi-tenant Virtualization including Xen, or VMWare. Demonstrated experience with organizing complex, long running technical projects that require the coordination across departments and could include multiple suppliers. Demonstrated skills with a systems scripting language such as Powershell, Bash, Perl or Python. Computer skills including spreadsheets, presentation software, word processing and databases. Effective verbal and written communication skills. 5
years verifiable experience leading a complex network, server, and SAN vertical providing operational excellence to the business demonstrated through metric driven decisions and KPI's.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
