Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Mechanical Designer is to address new scientific instrumentation product development needs.
Responsibilities
The selected individual will mainly be responsible for the creation and improvement of assembly drawings, sub-assembly and component design, detail drawings, etc.
Maintain high contract engineering out-put, good morale and ensure all mechanical engineering activities are performed at the highest standards possible.
Must strive to utilize processes that will insure the most efficient and profitable output of the mechanical engineering functions.
Develop standard mechanical systems/packages to support new mechanical systems. (Mechanical system packages will be designed without the need for field engineering)
Provide pre-bid and other mechanical assistance to project managers.
Perform technical reviews of escalator orders to ensure equipment estimated is compliant with equipment outlined in project scope documents.
Gather information required to clarify ambiguous points and coordinate all activity associated with (internal and external) customer-driven changes.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in the specification of HVAC equipment including air handlers, chillers, pumps, boilers, piping, and ductwork.
Systems experience preferred for educational, municipal, commercial, and industrial facilities.
Knowledgeable in contractor submittal review, management of projects, and mechanical construction activities for projects.
This person will collaborate with architects; develop engineering concepts and recommendations; design HVAC systems for both large and small public and commercial facilities.
Should possess good organizational, communication, and writing skills.
Able to work independently; and efficiently manage workload.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, AutoCad, and Revit is required.
Education:
BS degree in Civil Engineering or higher is preferred
