Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Test proof of concept/feasibility for new manufacturing processes or significant capability improvement of existing manufacturing processes.
Investigate manufacturing process alternatives and work with others to down select based on the technical fundamentals, performance and manufacturing cost criteria
Solve problems and demonstrate feasibility using theoretical, empirical and modeling approaches
Design and conduct experimentation aimed at investigating manufacturing process alternatives includes taking ownership and responsibility for own part of project.
Implement sample making processes; act as coordinator; set up procedures
Conduct hands on work in a laboratory environment
Communicate project status and updates to the work group including memos and R and L reports.
Measure and communicate progress against established objectives.
Maintaining contacts with groups outside of RD&E to facilitate problem identification and solutions.
Document work and generate IP as appropriate
Projects involved with:
Using first principle knowledge to design manufacturing processes for new businesses, enable new materials and/or improve capital efficiency.
Projects could support any Corning division or new business
Project teams could be both within ESP or cross functional with S&T or plants
Most projects will involve lab experimentation, data tracking and analysis
Travel Requirements: Expected travel is project dependent typically less than 25%
Required Education:
MS-PhD in Material Science with polymer / organic coursework and/or internships.
BS candidates with 3
years of applied experience through internships in Material/Polymer Science will be considered.
Must be a 2013 or 2014 graduate.

Able to apply the principles of process control and discipline to early stage projects
Good communication skills both verbal and written, including accurate recording of experiments, creating detailed documents, and reporting out or presentation within team.
Able to implement experiments and verify theory

Knowledge of Modeling capability and how to leverage modeling tools
Some mechanical aptitude/equipment understanding

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
