United Way of Metropolitan Nashville is seeking an experienced Sr. Manager, Grants and Research. This critical leadership role will lead and grow our development efforts with foundations, corporations and government sources. The Sr. Manager, Grants and Research will be responsible for attaining an aggressive resource generation goal that includes major grant gifts (1 million +) to support many of our community partnerships.
The successful candidate will oWork with Program Managers and essential staff to produce sufficient number and quality of prospects; to produce extensive institutional donor profiles; target appropriate ask amounts; and prioritize and evaluate prospects for corporate, foundation, and government grants. oSuccessfully acquire new grants through developing and prioritize projects and proposals: organize and facilitate cross functional team; meet and work with staff to elicit projects and programs that need support; manage monthly meetings to vet projects and programs and set priorities for funding. oGenerate proposals for: unique projects and programs; unique institutional and individual funders. oWrites and produces all proposals, budgets, reports, and other ancillary materials for grant submission. oOversees all pre-award and post award research activities. Oversees the post- award review of all extramural funding including government and non-government grants and foundation awards on behalf of the departments and its functional groups to assure institutional and sponsor compliance, budgetary appropriateness, and compliance of grant and contract awards to applicable governmental guidelines. Submits fiscal reports as required. Manages requests to re-budget when necessary. oProvide stewardship for existing funders. oManage existing grants by: tracking grants; developing internal reporting systems; writing reports; maintaining excellent historical records; working with staff to ensure each project or program is meeting proposal conditions and expectations. oDevelop and foster relationships with institutional funders: find personal connections with staff, board, trustees, volunteers, donors that will ensure the attention of institutional funders.
Education/
Experience: oWork requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. Masters preferred. oMinimum of five years experience with grant writing and management. oProven track record of successful acquisition of major grants (one million +) from foundations, corporations and/or government sources. oResearch or grants education and/or certification is preferred.
