General
Summary:
Lead SDA's and ensure sales objectives are met or exceeded. Maintain contact with key field customer personnel at the chain level by spending four to five days per week in the field. Achieve merchandising objectives and ensure stale control measures as established versus Region objectives. Continually focus on improving productivity by means of value-added operational efficiencies; route split initiatives, and flawless execution at store/retail level.
Principal Accountabilities:
Profitable Sales Volume
Establish sales stale distribution targets and merchandising objectives for each assigned SDA.
Provide all required assistance at the retail level to achieve Pepperidge Farm's established objectives
Deliver unit volume and dollar volume results versus established objectives/targets
Sell to small accounts where appropriate Merchandising Excellence
Maintain a merchandising strategy for all Pepperidge Farm products that ensures the proper handling, placement and stale allocation levels/objectives
Conduct frequent (at least weekly) retail store audits of sales, stales, product mix (distribution), merchandising (on shelf and off shelf displays, etc.), pricing and positioning of Pepperidge Farm and competitive products
Attend store sets, store openings, in-store demos, promotional activities and trade functions Display Penetration
Deliver results versus target for all focus items including display penetration targets, new item distribution objectives and merchandising standards adherence Job Complexity SDA/Retailer Leadership
Establish and maintain a high level of relations with SDA's, retail store and field customer decision making management personnel. Maintain regular chain supervisor contacts
Frequently call on SDA's to counsel and assist them with specific problems and opportunities. Serve as primary communicator for Pepperidge Farm
Conduct regularly scheduled SDA workshop meetings to improve operational expertise
Regularly ride routes (at least two days per week) and work with SDA's to resolve problems to achieve sales, stales, and merchandising goals. Reinforce and mutually develop Volume Plans through the JVP process
Operate route when necessary Personal Development
Build SDA capabilities to achieve display targets and to secure necessary resources to achieve AOP targets (including reset activities). Ensure collaboration across the organization to ensure delivery of results
Provide SDA's with regular input on performance. Coach and provides recommendations to each SDA on areas for improvement (including specific training). Coach on the rules of the road strategies and goals in order to accomplish objectives.

Minimum education required: BS/BA in Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience: 3 - 5 years District level sales experience preferably with Direct Store Delivery organization. Food industry experience preferred.
