Due to an influx of work, the Hosting Operations team is in need of additional headcount. They have a large environment (3,000-3,500 servers) so would like enterprise environment experience
Stack rank of skills:
1)Linux (2-3 years of experience minimum)
2)Apache (1-2 years of solid experience)
3)NFS (Network File Systems) experience
4)Networking skills
5)good load balancing skills
Job Description
In a LINUX server environment, performs installation, customization and maintenance of the operating system and system software products in support of business processing requirements.
Troubleshoot server alerts within the shared hosting platform - work on customer escalations
Restore servers -server triage - Network TCP Stack familiarity
Designs, develops, recommends and implements new or revised system software, utilities and automated processes as necessary.
Provides in-depth diagnosis for operating systems software/hardware failures and develops solutions. o Ensures server data integrity by evaluating, implementing and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
Prescribes system backup / disaster recovery procedures and directs recovery operations in the event of destruction of all or part of the operating system or other system components. Implements appropriate levels of system security.
Would like some web hosting knowledge/experience (web application security experience)
Great customer facing / presentation skills to all levels of management. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Required Skills:
3-5 years of Linux systems administration Experience, primarily Red Hat Enterprise Linux (versions 4 and 5),
Knowledge of Linux virtualization technologies (Xen, VMware ESX)
Advanced knowledge of the OS specific security and services configuration.
General knowledge of: EMC SAN connectivity and related technologies, scripting (shell/Perl)
Possess significant knowledge of the UNIX OS internals.
Minimum Certifications or Other Professional Credentials:
Bachelor Degree or equivalent technical experience
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
