Gerdau is seeking to hire an Electrical Maintenance Technician for its Knoxville, TN facility.
Overview:
This position is a multi-craft maintenance position with a heavy focus on the electrical skill set. This position will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical equipment and components in support of steel mill operations. This position will work with both high and low voltage systems. PLC knowledge is required for this position to work on trouble shooting industrial equipment. This position requires working in a hands-on industrial environment (including working in high heat or cold temperatures).
Qualifications include:
Minimum education requirement is a high school diploma or equivalent; preferred education is an associate's degree or appropriate certification.
A minimum of two years of work history in electrical maintenance position at an industrial facility with associates. Without associates degree or appropriate certification, a minimum of 5 years experience is required.
Ability to estimate project costs, contact vendors for quotes, bring in outside contractors when needed to complete a project.
Experience in the installation, troubleshooting and repairing of digital electronic and electrical equipment such as flow meters, pressure switches, proximity switches etc.
Able to read electrical schematics to assist in installation/troubleshooting. Ability to read and troubleshoot hydraulic schematics a plus.
Experience installing AC Drives preferred.
Installing, troubleshooting, and repairing AC/DC Motors.
PLC knowledge, specifically SLC500/505 and ControlLogix, required. Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems while online with PLC.
Helpful certifications and/or experience with Rockwell Automation software, Allen Bradley, or Wonderware InTouch software.
Additional Requirements:
Must be able to successfully pass a written assessment including basic math, mechanical aptitude, electrical knowledge, and general industrial knowledge.
Must be able to successfully pass a hands-on practical test with senior leadership, demonstrating your abilities to perform the job successfully.
Some light duty welding/torching may be required.
