NameMedia is looking for an enthusiastic, innovative, ever improving PHP Engineer to become a strategic member of our team to help lead the technology direction for one of our key online platforms. This team member will assist in delivering high-quality, high-visibility, high-traffic customer facing web sites and company-internal 24 x 7 web applications. We want a creative thinker and hands-on doer that know the current landscape of open source frameworks, social APIs, and the latest ideas around web based applications and client-server technology. The individual will work with the team to identify and implement best practices to ensure the software performs as expected and will be an integral part of all team deliverables. This is a fast paced, high energy, agile professional environment with friendly atmosphere.
Responsibilities:
Diagnose and fix bugs.
Generate technical solutions to creative challenges.
Excited about analytics, metrics, measuring everything, and monitoring solutions.
Loves to write code, manipulate data, and has a natural tendency to automate everything.

Loves being a critical part of a high-performance team doing meaningful work.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will create technical specifications, advise management on technical issues, and interface with senior developers.
Skills & Requirements:
Experience in software development.
Experience working with a LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
Excellent knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and JSON.
A strong foundation in computer science with working knowledge of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, problem solving, and software design.
Experience designing API's, building web services, and able to design and implement database schema's.
Experience with other programming languages such as C/C++, Perl, Python, or Ruby.
Experience with Linux administration and shell scripting.
Skilled within a MVC Framework such as Cake, Helium or Zend.
Proficient with either MySQL or other relational database technologies.
Proficient with jQuery and CSS / HTML.
UX/Usability design experience
SEO techniques
Knowledge of REST and web service creation and consumption within SOA.
Familiarity with optimizing and enhancing web applications for high volume page requests, data logging/processing, and high performance requirements.
Professional work ethic and attitude.
BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent
Other desirable technologies and skills:
Java development experience
Familiarity with Hadoop. Mongo and associated technologies
Mobile web development
LAMP experience
Simple Linux server administration
