Electrical Department Manager
Location: Scarborough, Maine
This is a working manager's role focused on power generation and transmission/distribution projects. You will be involved in everything from high voltage substations to anything inside the plant - a great role if you thrive on variety! You will be coordinating technical resources, reviewing documents, writing specs for boilers, steam generators, turbines, condensers, and managing a team of 12 engineers and designers.
Responsibilities:
Direct the activities of department engineering and technical staff to include resource planning and scheduling and follow up on work results
Possess a thorough knowledge of Industry standards and Electrical Engineering design principles
Must have experience with power plant systems including 4160V, 480V distribution systems, high voltage substations and transmission systems
Strong background in:
One line drawings, elementaries and wiring diagrams, equipment specifications including transformers, MCC, switchgear, and associated substation equipment
Power plans, conduit plans, cable schedules
System studies or protective relay settings
Development of discipline specific engineering and technical standards, practices, procedures and techniques
You will also:
Recruit, train, evaluate and retain qualified staff. Mentor young staff
Interact with clients
Participate in strategic planning initiatives
Serve as project manager or project engineer as needed
Contribute to department sales efforts to attract new business and expand current business
Qualifications:
Bachelor's of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
PE License required
Minimum of 12 - 20 years experience working in a multi-discipline, consulting engineering environment demonstrating increased levels of responsibility managing engineering staff, projects and clients.
Demonstrated ability to make decisions quickly, juggle multiple tasks, communicate in a clear and concise manner, and provide effective leadership.
Must be comfortable making group presentations to various audiences.
