We are currently seeking an Associate Buyer to join our Accessories Department in our new beautiful headquarters, located in Mahwah, NJ.
The Associate Buyer will partner with the Buyer to develop and execute a strategy for assortment, vendor management, pricing and marketing for a specific category of business to maximize sales and profitability. The Associate Buyer will also take ownership of a portion of the category's overall seasonal business and manages the processes to achieve sales, margin, inventory flow and sell down plan objectives for their area of responsibility. The Associate Buyer will manage the conversion of his/her product line to a new season.
Departmental
Responsibilities:
Identify trends within department to help reach and exceed sales and margin plan.
Assist Buyer to identify merchandise assortments that best match customers' needs in marketplace.
Understand the target customer and use knowledge to contribute to style selection.
Regularly identify and shop competition and dressbarn and utilize knowledge to enhance department selection.
Encourage open communication with Buyer and promote team spirit and work collaboratively to achieve departmental goals.
Ability to satisfactorily perform all duties of an Assistant Buyer.
Line
Responsibilities:
Financial analysis of specific business line for all stores.
Complete accurate forecasts evaluating financial components based on current trend, and knowledge of future events which will impact the business.
Develop and execute seasonal plans by vendor for their area of responsibility to maximize profit.
Execute the marketing plan and evaluate advertising performance to identify new opportunities.
Develop assortment plans which support the departmental goals and key item focus.
Select and purchase assortments for area of responsibility.
Set promotional and pricing strategy to achieve sales plan within a season.
Travel frequently to the market to source new merchandise categories, trends and products.
Build and maintain a strong relationship with vendors.
Negotiate with vendors on pricing, timing, exclusivity, and incentives, new items, and terms.
Requirements include:
Candidates must have 2-5 years buying line experience and preferably a 4-year degree, in one of the following areas: Fashion Merchandising, Business Administration, Marketing or Business
Candidates for this position will have initiated action with proven results, be multi-task oriented and detail conscious. The right individual will possess initiative, a keen fashion sense, a positive attitude, and strong communication skills. This position also requires the following:
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; ability to prioritize.
Advanced proficiency in MS Word & Excel.
