## Description
Perform laboratory analysis to determine chemical and physical characteristics of products as needed by the facility; to provide accurate and precise results for such purposes as quality control, process control or product development.
Principal Accountabilities:
Use complete knowledge of all standardized lab procedures and able to perform them efficiently and accurately.
Attend training, set up, adjust and operate lab equipment and instrumentation.
Perform analysis on samples and collect samples when needed from the process, meal loadout, oil loadout, wastewater, inbound supplies and by-products to verify conformity to both internal and external customer requirements.
Technicians must be capable of evaluating test results for credibility, accuracy, dependability and reproducibility at all times.
Correctly document all results, create Certificate of Analysis (COA) and other necessary reports correctly. Required to meet all deadlines set for lab reports and COA's.
Responsible for communicating all results to the appropriate production, lab and administrative personnel.
Clean, calibrate and perform preventative maintenance on all lab instruments and run all necessary pre-controls.
Prepare chemical solutions according to standard formulas.
Notify Lab Supervisor of unusual use of lab supplies and equipment to avoid down time.
Observe and enforce all lab and plant safety rules. Must keep the lab clean to ensure a safe work environment.
Follow Cargill, EPA and DOT guidelines for handling and disposing of chemicals.
Prepare all necessary samples for shipment to customers and referee labs.
Responsible for approval of all shipments to customers either by truck or rail. Notify supervisor if there are any discrepancies involved (marginal specifications, possible complaint, rejections, etc).
Communicate clearly and concisely with operators, supervisors, and other lab technicians.
Provide support to other technicians, operators and supervisor utilizing skills and knowledge in decision making and problem solving.
Set priorities in organizing workload to completing all work necessary during the shift without incurring unnecessary overtime.
Participate in work related activities including routing work and projects. Professionalism and teamwork to operate as part of a work team.
Must be able to work holidays and weekends (rotating).
## Qualifications
Required:
High School diploma or equivalent with related experience
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as technical procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively to managers, customers and employees of the organization.
Apply concepts such as dilutions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations relating to mathematical skills.
Must be able to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form.
Must be able to logically troubleshoot and solve problems within the lab atmosphere.
Must have fundamental understanding of computer operations and programs needed to support lab data. Person must also possess the ability to learn how to use computer operated instrumentation.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
