IT Project Management - Iteration Manager
IM: This is an Iteration Manager (IM) position and will be working on a standing team in an agile environment.
An IM leads standing development teams to develop high quality working software through adoption of innovative best practices. The main responsibilities include planning iteration and releases, project forecasting, removing roadblocks, and facilitating iteration cadence. The IM is the agile champion for the team and is responsible for fostering a continuous improvement and team collaborative culture. Project Management, Clarity and RTC experience are preferred.
An Iteration Manager:
Continuously monitors team throughput and/or velocity to achieve iteration goals and commitments.
Uses technical and functional knowledge to remove roadblocks within the standing team and identify technical risks (e.g., risks with architecture, design, patterns, performance, etc.); communicates obstacles requiring outside resolution to the Project Manager.
Facilitates effort or design estimates with the team to support release, iteration and project forecasting/funding processes within the Business Solution Area (BSA).
Ensures the team is ready to accept the work into the release team by inspecting the quality of functional requirements for release or iteration planning (e.g., business requirements use cases, stories, etc.).
Leads iteration planning collaboratively, working with the Business Lead or Product Owner to build and maintain a prioritized product backlog.
Leads retrospective, daily standup and show-and-tell meetings -- if applicable -- to encourage collaboration, communication, feedback and learning among the team.
Communicates with project dependencies to create transparency into the standing team's activities and progress, supporting program/project risk management, issue escalation and status reporting.
Drives team performance by eliminating waste and fostering an environment of continuous improvement, including facilitating decision making and protecting the team from outside forces and distractions.
Continuously improves iteration management capabilities by identifying best practices, adopting consistent, standard work and coaching/pairing across teams.
The ideal Iteration Manager possesses the follow skill set:
Undergraduate studies (bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred) in business, management information systems, computer science or a related field.
Technical work experience in the IT field.
At least eight years of technical work experience in the information technology field.
Two or more years of experience working within an iterative software development environment.
Two or more years experience collaboratively leading an agile software development team.
Experience using tools like IBM Rational Team Concert, Clarity, etc.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
