Our client is looking to hire a Department
manager
of the Mechanical Engineer division to lead their mechanical practice in the Ruston, LA office. This
position
oversees and is responsible for the overall technical aspects for the Mechanical Department.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Meets with clients to: represent the company, determine mechanical requirements, facilitate client requests and needs.
- Oversees and is responsible for the overall technical aspects for mechanical.
- Balance hands on engineering tasks (required) with leadership role
- Assume leadership of a project team and coordinates the design aspects of the projects. This includes the generation of calculations and design drawings as well as field work.
- Assess the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks, and work with other engineers to define the scope of work, budget and staffing.
- Provide estimates of engineering manpower effort required for the

led and provide accurate manpower planning and tracking data during the duration of the project.
- Provide detail mechanical design of complex facilities and give guidance to a team of engineers and designers/draftsmen.
- Perform checking of complex facilities. Participate in multi-discipline design/drafting package squad checks.
- Work with Mechanical Design
supervisor
& Design Manager to maintain project schedule by providing accurate and timely information to the Lead Designer.
- Responsible for the content and accuracy of the final design documents.
- Perform initial field survey to determine optimum equipment layout, facility operations and safety criteria.
- Perform vendor data review of equipment and components in their assigned area.
- Maintains communications between other engineers and other disciplines, Team Lead and Project Managers to assure schedule and budget accuracy.
- Generates all appropriate discipline communication records for proper dissemination of project information. Increase communications as the workload increases.
- Work jointly with Mechanical Design Supervisor & Design Manager in maintaining budget, schedule and adherence to the agreed to scope of work.
- Work jointly with Mechanical Design Supervisor in maintaining a needs list of design criteria to support completion of their assigned area.
- Mentor and help grow the department in experience and resources.
- May be involved in the interviewing and hiring process of potential candidates based on resource needs.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor of Science from an accredited university/college in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 10 years of experience (maximum of 20) in mechanical design as a Mechanical Engineer.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a lead design engineer.
- Experience in the oil/gas, hydrocarbon, refinery or chemical industries is strongly preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
Professional Engineering registration by examination very strongly preferred.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proven capability to interface with clients and has demonstrated excellent communication skills
- Possesses skill set and interest in a balance between hands on detailed engineering and leadership
- Thorough knowledge of engineering practices, design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications.
- A high degree of capability in engineering management, communications, client relationship, and team management.
- Ability to react promptly and efficiently to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from a variety of sources including team members, subcontractors, and other departments.
- Ability to bring projects and tasks to successful completion through political sensitivity.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and presentation skills.
- Ability to delegate and manage time and resources efficiently.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
