Background:
There are 10 Claims Financial reports (used by our Accounting business users) each month the day after our Claims Operations completes their monthly close. Five of the reports are written in Cognos and 5 are written in MS SSRS and are ts are generated from our Data Warehouse. The reports are time critical and cannot be run until the data has been absorbed into our Data Warehouse which is taking longer and longer to complete. We need to re-create the 10 reports using data from our Claims application database and not the Data Warehouse. We would like to have all the reports re-written in Cognos.

Requirements:
Analyze current 10 reports that were developed in SSRS using Fact and Dimension tables in our Data Warehouse to understand data being used and information being reported
Develop a matrix to map that Data Warehouse data to the Claims Application data extract to confirm data needed from Claims
Build these 10 reports using Cognos tools to ensure they produce same output as currently produced in 10 SSRS reports. Complete requisite design/documentation artifacts prior to coding
Test very thoroughly
Skills Required
Strong MS SQL coding skills and knowledge of MS SQL Server environment (SQL Server 2008) (Sudip to embellish)
Familiarity with OLPA, ROLAP and MOLAP data source and XML data source
Strong data analysis, profiling and have previous data warehouse/data integration experience
Strong Cognos development skills ( Cognos version 10 Report Studio, etc ( Prakash to embellish)
Experience in BI application design and development using the IBM COGNOS tools (version 10.1)
Experience of designing and developing reporting solutions based on data stored in dimensionally modeled structures (star schemas) as well as relational structures (OLTP)
Analyze and understand report requirements (including data, layout/design/format and functional process requirements)
Analyze framework models/database objects and identify gaps/issues that needs to be addressed to complete report requirements
Design and develop Cognos framework models
Design and develop reports according to requirements using Report Studio - List, Crosstab, Complex calculations and filtering logic, drill-through, Query Joins/Unions, Conditional formatting, prompts, etc.
Experienced as a developer in MS OS environment
Familiarity with Data Modeling tools ( Ex: Erwin)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skill are needed as the individual has to work with other IT team members and end users
Familiarity with SDLC Methodologies, Source code maintenance (Ex: VSS or SourceAnywhere)
Worked with financial applicationsInsurance experience a big plus
Has to be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision and be proactive in taking on work and recommending improvements from a technical/functional perspective
Has to have good data analysis skills
Skills that would be helpful to have
Familiarity with ETL tools ( SSIS or Datastage) - person with this skill set could be given additional assignments beyond the initial contract end date
Worked with Claims/Policy data
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
