Description
This position is part of the Global Research, Development, Engineering and Quality (RDE&Q) organization in The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. RDE&Q functions include chemical research and polymer development processes. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, management and maintenance of Environmental programs that are consistent and compliant with applicable regulations and Company policies and procedures. This position works with and gives guidance specifically to the polymer process and scale-up facilities located in Akron, OH. This role assures required reporting, permitting
and communication with regulatory entities and Corporate requirements are complete, accurate and current.

The salary level of this position will vary based on the individual's background, experience, and capabilities.
Requirements
Bachelor's of Science in Engineering; preferably Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering
Minimum 4 years experience in Environmental protection involving chemical plants, pilot, experimental operations and manufacturing
EPA permit processing experience
RCRA and DOT certification is a plus
Knowledge of Federal Environmental regulations including RCRA, RMP, SPCC, SWPPP, Clean Air and Water Acts
Knowledge of Air Regulations and Permit Development
Knowledge of Governmental practices and policies
Understanding of PSM and RMP programs
Proficient in MS Office and emailing systems
Tasks
Develop and define project goals to meet specific business needs.
Maintain Compliance with RCRA Regulations including waste inspections, scheduling waste pick-ups and maintaining records
Maintain DOT Hazardous Materials Certification
File annual reports: SARA 312, Right to Know, Air Deviations, etc.
Maintain Air Permits by monitoring facilities spreadsheets, updating spreadsheet for new equipment and modifying and updating permits as needed
Maintain Emergency Response Manuals for complex
Be certified as a 24 Hour HAZMAT Technician
Be on call for Environmental Emergencies
Maintain Water Permits: Storm and Sanitary.
Develop, implement and coordinate environmental programs including training, waste, solvent and energy emission reduction.
Provide technical support to facility management and other associates in: identifying, evaluating, resolving and controlling current and potential Environmental issues; process improvements; and compliance to regulatory and corporate requirements.
Conduct plant self-audits, prepare and implement corrective action plans to achieve compliance.
Prepare and implement corrective actions to counter unsatisfactory trends.
Prepare environmental awareness, education and training programs including Hazardous Waste Training, SPCC Training, Emergency Response Training, etc.
Assist the PEIC as required for process development scale-up including providing technical coverage on shifts
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
