Gunther Douglas' global client is seeking a Principal SQL Server DBA for a permanent opportunity in Englewood, CO. The candidate will work in a high-availability, production environment. He/she must be comfortable interacting with a globally diverse team.

Duties:
-Performs in a lead-role member on the Global Database Administration team.
-Provides oversight to - or performs - database administration tasks, including installation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, tuning, and backup/recovery in a production environment.
-Develops and publishes regular reports of database health; establishes and conforms to database benchmarks; and implements proactive/corrective measures to maintain maximum performance and availability.
-Owns troubleshooting investigations of company's key internal and customer facing databases, and coordinates cross-discipline resolution of problems.
-Tracks SQL Server licensing and manages support cases with vendor.
-Serves as a subject matter expert in SQL Server database technologies; advising on best practices, developing standards, enforcing security, and optimizing deployments.
-Leads response to complex and escalated SQL Server operational issues and mentors other DBAs in evaluation and resolution of issues.
-Analyzes SQL Server database performance data and usage trends to institute corrective actions, and predict future usage. Oversees operation of SQL Server management/monitoring frameworks, including Central Management Server.
-Implements SQL Server high-availability features (replication, clustering) features and ensures a corporate database backup/recovery strategy is adopted and tested.
-Participates in a global 24x7 on-call rotation.

Required Skills:
-10
years of experience administrating large, multi-user Microsoft SQL Server databases using versions 2005 and 2008R2. Competence in SQL Server 2012 administration recommended.

years of experience in 24x7 production database operations.
-Proven team leadership and mentoring experience.
-Deployment experience in Microsoft high-availability technologies/architectures, including clustering, log-shipping, and replication.
-Power-user knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems (Windows Server 2000/2003/2008).
-Advanced TSQL scripting and query optimization ability.
-Configuration and operational experience with SQL Server tools, including: CMS, SSRS, SSAS and SSIS
-Understanding of storage (NAS, SAN), virtualization (VMware), and backup (NetBackup) technologies.
-Available to perform occasional after hours/weekend/holiday tasks that support 24x7 database operations.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
