SENIOR DRIVES & AUTOMATION TECHNICIAN
The ideal candidate is a factory-trained Senior Drives Technician with automation experience who has been formally factory trained and certified by a major manufacturer for
repair
of low and medium-voltage Drive systems.
Minimum Qualifications to qualify for consideration, you must meet each of the following minimum qualifications and required knowledge skills:
2 Year Electrical Technical degree program; prefer a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology, or equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
5 or more years of field work experience with formal training from a major Drive Systems OEM or as a Senior Medium Voltage Field Service Technician; prefer experience with AB, ABB, Teco, Toshiba, TMEIC, Siemens-Robicon.
Experience as a lead technician with responsibilities in start-up, installation and commissioning of complex (Medium Voltage 5KV Class) AC variable frequency drives systems; DC systems knowledge a plus.
Clearly communicate in English via verbal or written methods, and be comfortable and effective in explaining and describing electrical equipment service issues and needs in a technical manner to co-workers or customers in a service situation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), and major VFD drive manufacturer's software products
Proficient in major brands of automation software to allow successful troubleshooting of VFD process control.
Knowledgeable of industry safety requirements, while working in or around Low Voltage 600V Class equipment and Medium Voltage 5KV-4160V Class equipment.
Proficient at system integration and communication with a major manufacturer's automation system, with primary experience in enabling safety-production communication of Drives systems in a plant operations automation environment.
Excellent customer service and people skills, as you might be the single point of contact when onsite in most service situations.
Project management experience or skills required;

Responsibilities:
Start-up and commissioning, preventative maintenance, installation and repair
services
of complex AC medium variable frequency drives systems onsite at customer locations.
Communicate regularly with customer on troubleshooting analysis and recommendations, and obtain approval to implement recommendations.
Successfully perform complex drives system work scope as a lead technician to customer's satisfaction
