Work hours for this position are 3rd shift, 10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m.
1. Mold technician is responsible for all mold maintenance, trouble shooting and repairs of single shot and multi-shot plastic injection molding tools.
2. Trouble shoots emergency break downs and premature tooling failure making repairs in a timely and professional manor in support of production needs and schedules.
3. Responsible for creating and maintaining all preventive maintenance activities, procedures and plan development on injection tooling and shop equipment.
4. Construct, build and design replacement equipment components working from hand sketches, CAD and informational descriptions.
5. Direct responsibilities for maintaining a safe, clean and orderly work environment in a food grade manufacturing facility.
6. Maintain and create all department required documents including area checklist and Maximo demand and preventive maintenance work orders correct and on-time.
7. Notifies department managers, cell leads and supervision electronically and verbally of
repair
, production and quality concerns.
8. Adheres to all plant and department GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) requirements
9. Operate various types of welding equipment including mig, tig and arc.
10. System controls maintenance and basic logic understanding.
11. Qualifications
Skills / Experience
Requirements:
Minimum of 10 years injection mold experience including cavity insert finishing, core function, valve gate and hot runner operation, maintaining vents and multi-shot tooling function.
Diverse experience with the operation and setup of machine shop tools including lathes, mills, drills, surface grinders.
Experience and understanding of Proto-Trak mill setup, operation and G code programming a plus.
Working knowledge of tool steels and heat treating is required.
Ability to understand and operate CAD software applications including Solid-works a plus.
Must be able to create parts from Blue prints / CAD drawings.
Must have knowledge of measurement instruments and techniques including, micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers and bore gages.
Must have solid understanding of shop safety, safe operation of all production and tool room equipment, lock out tag out process overhead crane operation.
Hands-on problem solving
Must be able work effectively in a cross-functional team.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Significant Work Activities and Conditions Continuous standing for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)
