nevada
.
Summary: The EH&S; Specialist performs tasks in a wide range of environmental, health, safety and security disciplines to achieve compliance with the company's EH&S; standards as well as with federal and state regulatory requirements at our Silica Sand Mine in Overton, NV. This Specialist will be required to establish procedures including regulatory research and program development. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of programs, systems, and procedures necessary to ensure the overall safety, security and health of employees and the
community
. Participate in employee training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance programs. Provide back up support to administrative functions including customer service.
Responsibilities:
Reads, interprets, develops, implements and evaluates regulatory programs including Emergency Preparedness, Mine Facilities security program, etc.
Provides day-to-day hands on support to Silica.
Delivers training & development in the following areas: compliance training; safety permit; scaffold erection; fall protection; manmade minerals fibers; HAZCOM; blood borne Pathogen Exposure; and any misc. training as assigned.
Assists in monitoring and preventing chemical, physical, safety, security and biological hazards including the emergency equipment mechanical integrity program, etc.
Develops and implement a formal file retention and auditing program. Participate in the PSM/RMP audits of terminal. Participate in the Corporate HES&S; Assessment programs.
Provides backup support to other mine departments as directed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university and 5
years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
