This systems team provides core application development and support
services
for all back office systems. The team works on technology-based projects in collaboration with other systems divisions, customers, and custodian banks. The Senior Software Engineer / Developer is primarily responsible for ensuring effective, efficient and high quality mid tier development to meet the defined project business objectives. Has the overall responsibility to oversee the design and development of all processing. Possess strong design and technical skills with deep knowledge of the mid-tier concepts, practices and procedures. Works closely with and leads other team members in determining and defining repeatable development patterns. Must be able to own the overall mid-tier development and look for opportunities to improve efficiency of existing development practices.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintains trusted relationships with business partners
Provide technical and team leadership in both the User Interface and Mid-Tier
Research new technologies independently to make judgment and recommendations for future releases
Translate business requirements into implementation process by considering all alternatives and implementing the best strategy to ensure design meets performance, usability, and reliability and scalability requirements.
Participate in the definition of both functional and non-functional requirements of a system and defines the development strategy, standards and support tools.
Write source code, adapt existing components, and tests the developed components as units creating test stubs and test data as necessary
Require an understanding of the overall system architecture and the impact of changes to the system.
Define and ensure compliance to standards and best practices for Mid-Tier development including change management, release management, & source code control.
Participate in Level 3 on call production support on a rotation basis.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in
computer
Science or equivalent.
At least seven years' industry experience in a software engineering capacity
Minimum of two years agile experience in project work
Skills and Knowledge
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types and distributed teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with business and technical team members across the organization
Able to be highly productive in an agile project delivery environment
Understanding of financial services industry
Four or more years' web application development experience in Java/J2EE.
Hands on Experinece with Struts, Spring and JRules
Worked on a development team through at least two major development cycles
Experienced with SQL and stored procedures. Oracle database preferred (PL/SQL)
Experience with the following technologies: Tomcat, Oracle, Spring, XML, Web Services
Nice to haves:
Experience with myBatis/iBatis ORM tools desirable
Test Driven Development or Acceptance Test Driven Development experience in two or more projects and implementing automated unit testing based on criteria agreed upon with customers
Experience with developing automated functional tests (Using Selenium or similar tool) Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
