The Enablement
services
Consultant (ESC) is a key member of the team responsible for delivering Compuware's APM enablement services, focused on enabling our customers to take control of performance management of mission critical applications in distributed and mainframe environments. ESCs ensure our customers' successful adoption of Compuware APM technologies throughout the Production, Test, and Development organizations. The ES mission is to provide services that enable organizations to proactively avoid performance and stability issues throughout the software application lifecycle, to rapidly diagnose and resolve problems should they occur, and to leverage application performance metrics to better manage their businesses.
Following are examples of ES engagement activities in which the ESC will participate:
Define and deliver education sessions focused on Compuware APM software and APM enablement
Install, configure, and troubleshoot Compuware APM products
Partner with customers to define and scope APM enablement goals
Serve as subject matter expert on Compuware APM techniques and best practices. This is beyond simply sharing product knowledge; it requires relevant industry skills and knowledge
As experience warrants, analyze performance data and assist with performance troubleshooting / tuning of customer applications, architecture, and practices
As experience warrants, participate in project scoping, product architectural deployment design, and product deployment sizing
Use APM products (especially immediately after installation) to find and point out obvious application anti-patterns and other low-hanging fruit for those great aha! moments
As experience warrants, identify key Business Modeling integration opportunities, especially around reporting, alerting, dashboards, SLAs, etc. Guide customers in the development of these things
Build relationships that support the successful adoption and integration of Compuware APM products throughout the application lifecycle (
land
and expand)
Assist Project and Delivery Managers in the management of ongoing delivery engagements
Assist Sales and FTS as required during the presales process for scoping, sizing, and design activities
Recommend complementary products or product features to meet customer goals
Document and package field experiences for the benefit of the customer as well as the rest of the Compuware ES team

Responsibilities:
Product-specific responsibilities will be shown in the appropriate product appendix. Please note that extensive travel will be required for this particular role.
CUSTOMER BASED
Partner with the sales team in presales meetings and technical sessions with the goal of closing the sale
Manage and deliver post-sales Enablement Services onsite and remote customer engagements
As required, consult to internal customers such as support, operations, PDP, etc.
Teach and Implement (primarily) and Analyze (as skills develop)
Consult with customers to understand, and then meet, their business and technical goals (oversight as needed)
Perform standard installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of product in customer environments
Deliver onsite and remote (depending on product) instructor-led product training sessions, which are a mixture of lecture and hands-on labs. Core training initially and specialty topic training as experience warrants
After appropriate onsite engagement experience, deliver remote ad-hoc live-fire sessions (e.g. coaching, performance pit-stop, or load test sessions)
As experience warrants, use product in live customer environments to troubleshoot, make recommendations, and find the root cause of actual application performance problems (triage)
As experience warrants, use (and teach the usage of) key features in product that allow customers to use performance data to model and visualize their businesses effectively in product-specific ways
Create, and then deliver against, meaningful and manageable project plans
Help customers understand the value and importance of the Compuware way for enablement
Document customer interactions internally, for smooth transitions between consultants
Contribute to building and refining a repeatable, high quality enablement model that results in exceptional wow customer satisfaction, high gross margins, and expanding client business (land and expand)
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
APM Professional Certification required on entry to role, or within 90-120 days if new-hire or exception (below)
Maintain ongoing release-readiness training as assigned
As experience and career goals warrant, progress towards and completion of APM Master Certification
Make continued progress on installation, configuration and troubleshooting skills: core product to all optional or specialty modules
Make continued progress on product performance data analysis skills, product installation architecture, design skills, engagement scoping, and infrastructure sizing skills
Ramp up involvement with online Compuware
community
and Forums: observer to frequent contributor
Make continued progress on presentation skills, product live-demo skills, and account management skills
Build internal professional network within ES, FTS, Support, Product Management, etc.
Remain up-to-date with relevant industry application trends and technologies such as cloud-based delivery, big data, mobile apps, etc.

Mandatory:
Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) experience including use of Satellite servers
Defence CIOG experience including familiarity with Change Management Process
