Job Description
SUMMARY
System/NW Administrator under general supervision, responsible for designing, monitoring, modifying and maintaining systems for acceptable availability, stability and response time to customers. Systems include, but are not limited to, data center, network, operating system, product development, mail server, applications server and groupware.
Position can be located in Monett, MO, Springfield, MO, Allen, TX, Houston,TX, Mendota Heights, MN,Charlotte, NC orLenexa, KS.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Designs IT infrastructure solutions.
Proposes and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the system.
Monitors systems for optimum performance and availability.
Installs, configures and maintains systems.
Troubleshoots and resolves customer and internally-reported system problems.
Implements and monitors corporate security policies.
Documents and implements system procedures, policies and
events
.
Participates in on-call 24x7 support rotation.
Performs essential functions required for effective system backup and restore testing.
Performs periodic recovery testing of DR plans.
May assist support groups with applications installed on various servers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's or Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) preferred.
Minimum of five years of experience in systems/network administration/Mimix/iSeries or related field; or
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Extensiveexperience withMimix is required
Experience with IBM i5 OS version 7.1 required
Applicable industry standard certification(s) preferred - Mimix or IBM System Administrator.
Experience with Independent ASPs in IBM i environment preferred
Knowledge of other replication / HA products (such as IBM POWER HA, Data Mirror, etc) on midrange IBM systemspreferred
Able to work extended hours as business needs dictate.
Able to work flexible schedules to cover various shifts.
Travel: 20%
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization (Mimix/iSeries). Works on moderately complex and diverse projects. Exercises good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure concepts and principles.
Strong communication and customer interaction skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Basic knowledge of products offered by JHA.
Able to design and architect IT infrastructure solutions.
Able to troubleshoot and resolve customer problems in a timely manner.
Able to monitor, modify and maintain assigned system(s) in support of optimal performance and availability.
