Alliant Energy is currently recruiting for a Journey Line Technician for our Stoughton office. In this role, you will be responsible for constructing, dismantling, maintaining, replacing and repairing electric lines, stations, substations and other properties as required. This
position
requires the applicant to live within 20 minutes of the assigned headquarters.

Job Responsibilities
Sets, guys and frames poles, towers and other structures.
Installs, splices and secures conductors.
Installs and maintains transformers, conductors, regulators, breakers, switches, fuses, street lighting equipment, lightning arrestors, etc.; (overhead and underground).
Works on energized lines and equipment.
Works with live line maintenance tools.
Keeps informed on and abides by the required Safety Rules, Operating Practices and codes pertaining to all phases of line work.
Maintains proper line clearances.
Trims trees.
May lead and assist in training others in the same or lower classifications.
Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position.
Working Conditions -
Varied outdoor work, involves a great deal of climbing, sometimes under disagreeable weather conditions at hours conforming with the Union Agreement.
Job Qualifications
Good reading comprehension, mathematics skills.
Successful completion of line technician apprenticeship; satisfactory passage of line technician examination.
Demonstrated ability to do ordinary line construction, operating and maintenance work, line trouble shooting and transformer installation including three-phase and parallel banking.
Reasonable knowledge of work order procedure and allocation of charges.
Knowledge of the requirements of the State Electrical Code and company standards for line construction.
Familiarity with live line maintenance tools and their use.
Thorough knowledge of the Company Safety Rules and Operating Practices relating to line construction and maintenance.
Ability to write clearly and concisely, make understandable diagrams, ability to express oneself orally.
Possession of a valid driver''s license; ability to obtain a Commercial Driver''s License prior to the end of trial period.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job.
Sensitivity to public opinion and property owner''s rights.
Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group.
NOTE:
This position is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug/alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40 and 382), and is subject to drug/alcohol testing according to said regulations.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
