Job Description
This position performs the daily maintenance and assists with the installation, configuration and deployment of the storage, backup and recovery, and monitoring systems for Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) and its subsidiaries. Under the direction of more experienced members of the Enterprise Storage Administration team, the incumbent performs the functions required to maintain the continued operation and efficiency of the storage, backup and recovery, and monitoring systems. The incumbent assists with business continuity and disaster recovery tasks. The incumbent provides intermediate-level technical support for internal and external customers.
Required Skills
This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching and climbing stairs. It requires frequent use of
computer
and keyboard. It requires occasional, kneeling, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds and lifting up to 50 pounds. It requires the use of software and hardware tools to service computer equipment. Finger dexterity, good color vision, and ability to perform close work, good hearing, and the ability to speak are required. Requires the ability to analyze data and reports; conduct research; implement recommendations; develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under pressure to complete projects. May be required to drive a motor vehicle or fly in Cooperative or commercial aircraft.
Required Experience
To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have an understanding of storage systems, backup and recovery systems, and operating system administration at a level acquired through the completion of a four-year degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related discipline with three years of enterprise level storage administration experience; or two-year degree in computer science, computer engineering or a related discipline and five years of enterprise level storage administration experience with demonstrated competency in the ability to handle intermediate storage system administration tasks. The ability to effectively utilize on-line resources to research and resolve problems is required. Good customer service skills are essential to excel at this position. A positive attitude toward customers, co-workers, supervisors and the requirements of the position is mandatory. Ability to take direction from others, both supervisors and colleagues, is required. This position carries a cell phone and will be on-call on a rotational basis. This position may occasionally be required to work outside of normal business hours for system maintenance.
