Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Lead Facilitator is responsible for achieving production requirements for Glass, Vacutainer Assembly, Molding and Special Products, including GMP and quality standards, budgeted costs of production, plant safety standards and weekly schedule requirements. The Lead Facilitator is also generally responsible for coordinating plant objectives through delegation of responsibility and accountability to supervisory and hourly personnel.
The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
1. Assist with daily planning/scheduling and coordinate the day-to-day operation of the glass manufacturing, Vacutainer Assembly, Molding, Special Products and other areas; as assigned.
2. Provide direction to supervision and hourly workforce within the areas of safety, crewing, scheduling, methods/means of production, quality and waste standards, efficiencies and productivity, employee relations, and reinforcement of company policies and procedures.
3. Promote positive employee relations. Consult with, and take direction from, Human Resources and Production Manager regarding special employee problems, policies, discipline and labor relations initiatives or issues, etc.
4. Support BD/plant improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma, Validation, LEAN, training and work to provide the necessary resources to drive the success of these programs.
5. Direct effort toward the reduction of process variation, while ensuring that manufactured products meet quality and GMP requirements. Monitor and react to daily productivity and waste issues.
6. Work closely with the Production Manager to establish departmental budgets, cost reduction goals and utilization or improvement objectives. Communicates and reinforces objectives with direct subordinates.
7. Monitor staffing needs and communicate crewing or shortages to Production and Human Resources Managers. Coordinate and/or initiate personnel requisitions for approval.
8. Develop direct reports and provide performance feedback to direct reports. Generate preliminary annual performance appraisals for review by the Production and Human Resources Managers. The Lead Facilitator will administer performance appraisals to his/her direct reports. Provide feedback and direction regarding personal contribution or effectiveness, goals, objectives and recommendations for personal development.
9. Ensure that associates receive effective performance related feedback and training.
10. Monitor and protect company assets.
11. Reinforce company expectations regarding employee contribution and behavior/conduct.
12. Interact with the Production and
engineering
Managers to coordinate preventative maintenance. Assist with the scheduling and coordination of work during the annual shutdown period.
13. Facilitate departmental meetings as deemed necessary or required.
Education
A four (4) year degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field required.

Experience
Three (3) to five (5) years experience as a supervisor within an industrial/manufacturing setting. Previous experience supervising salaried and hourly employees being preferred and multi-shift and cross-departmental responsibilities preferred. Experience in setting and working toward the achievement of manufacturing budgets, developed interpersonal skills and the ability to reinforce expectations or goals while holding employees accountable to desired results and an applied understanding of industrial safety and OSHA and regulatory compliance.
Physical Requirements
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Cognitive Requirements
Developed oral and written communication skills. Proven analytical and problem solving skills. Strong organization skills and logical thinking.
Equipment Use
Ability to utilize
computer
based information systems.
Working Conditions
The position is subject to inside environmental conditions providing protection from weather conditions. The worker is subject to noise, however, noise threshold values do not require hearing protection throughout the entire plant. Areas within the plant requiring hearing protection are identified.
Although every effort has been taken to eliminate and/or reduce known workplace hazards, associates must continue to utilize required personal protective equipment and abide by established safety-related protocol and policies. All individuals must remain cognizant of their proximity to moving mechanical parts, sharp objects or chemical/heat exposure, sources of energy, moving power equipment such as forklifts, etc.
