Under close supervision, responsible for coding routine insurance policies, audit transactions and/or claims following fully defined procedures. Occasionally exercises initiative and independent judgement and solves problems of limited scope and complexity; reports problems/discrepancies to supervisor for reconciliation.
Responsibilities:
Follows audit, sales, Bureau and/or Company instructions for policy and/or audit premium coding, and loss coding. Assigns statistical codes for
computer
input. Refers questionable documents to appropriate person.
Ensures accuracy of standard source documents and makes corrections choosing among alternatives as needed. Contacts supervisor regarding more complex and involved discrepancies/problems which may require additional analysis, research.
Analyzes requests for policy changes, and/or audit data verifying all pertinent information, etc. to process policy and/or audit transactions.
Verifies policy data for input into Corporate records.
Applies and maintains Bureau and Company manuals, supplements, procedural bulletins and retrieves information from on-line computer systems.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Good analytical skills and aptitude for detail work to review and verify work.
Good communication skills.
Basic knowledge of Company SBU department relationships, insurance practices and procedures preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent training, plus 1 year of work experience in an insurance environment preferred.
