Focus IT is currently working with a large company in the Montgomery, AL area to help them locate a Sr. Project
manager
with Web Portals experience. This Project Manager will focus primarily on Web Portals.
The candidate will need to have the following:
Strong PM skills
Web development experience
Portal experience
CMS experience
Java to .Net migration experience
PURPOSE:
The primary mission for this
position
is to deliver quality solutions using approved tools, techniques, and methodologies. This position is accountable to integrate technology planning within the business planning process. This is a leadership position within the corporation and participates proactively with the corporation, business lines, functional units and small business units in the development and implementation of strategic plans for business initiatives.
DIMENSIONS:
Number of projects led: 3 to 5 major projects at a time.
Complexity:
Major projects size is generally greater than 2000 hours and can span several months to more than one year in timeframe
Major projects require oversight of project teams with 25 or more members
Major projects involve cross functional technical and business involvement
Financial Responsibility: Manage project budgets for strategic efforts over $100,000 in total project cost
Number of departments supported: Enterprise wide, but varied based on programs/project managed at any given time
For each approved project, this position manages the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple or large scale projects meeting customer expectations for time, cost, and specifications definitions. This position is responsible for all aspects of the project life cycle (initiate, plan, execute, control, close). This position is responsible for creating an overall project plan, working with the business sponsor and required IT units to identify and secure resources, providing oversight and guidance to the User project team, the Vendor project team, and the IT project team, in order to ensure the timely and successful completion of strategic assigned initiatives.
This position is responsible for supporting and following all aspects of the Project Management Methodology. This position is also responsible for communications related to the project to the business, IT and Senior Management. This position defines levels, boundaries, and responsibilities for development and implementation. These strategic assigned initiatives are typically multi-year, multi-million dollar projects.
The incumbent frequently serves as the
coach
for a wide range of IT resources assigned to the project. The duties range from coordinating and overseeing work assignments, to providing input to support evaluations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to sell concepts, ideas and ability to discuss sensitive and topical issues with all levels of management. This position also requires strong interpersonal skills, ability to lead business critical projects, and the ability to provide users with a vision for the future of the companies.
At least 8 years' experience leading and managing projects
Proven track record of successful software development initiatives and be recognized as a leader
4 year degree strongly desired
Property and Casualty or Life Insurance experience highly beneficial
PMP certification required
Proven experience in providing service to internal stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes
Understanding of project delivery and acceptance processes within a fast-paced business environment
Demonstrated capability for problem solving, decision making, sound judgment, assertiveness
Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent presentation skills with ability to conduct presentations comfortably to large groups
Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
Experienced user of MS Project and MS Office toolset (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
