POSITION Overview:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of field engineering assignments by applying standard engineering techniques and analyses. This Construction Engineer at this level may have some prior field experience and is expected to complete assignments with increasing proficiency. Willingness to travel to client facility locations throughout Washington, DC and Charlotte, NC is expected.
Responsibilities:
Inspects USPS facilities for compliance with USPS Handbook RE-4 Accessibility Requirements. Writes initial inspection reports based on field observations. Modifies or corrects reports based on supervisor and/or client feedback.
Develops a scope of work for construction at each facility to correct deficiencies related to accessibility. Prepares probable construction cost estimates for each scoped item.
After demonstrating a thorough understanding and proficiency in initial inspections, report writing, and scope of work preparation, may be asked to perform the following:
Perform QC reviews of documents prepared by others; prepare RFPs for construction; re-inspect facilities after the completion of construction to determine compliance with RE-4 requirements; write final inspection reports and waiver forms as required to obtain Certificates of Accessibility
Take responsibility for management of one or more multi-site construction packages, including review and response to RFI's; processing requisitions, change orders, and invoices; conducting and documenting preconstruction and weekly progress meetings.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.


Qualifications
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
:
4-year degree in engineering or construction-related field, or equivalent construction-related work experience.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
:
Requires a working knowledge of engineering and construction-related processes, as well as some familiarity with industry practices. Also requires good written and oral communication skills, and a familiarity with CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering and construction. Ability to work as part of a team is essential.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must have a valid driver's license.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
