This
position
oversees and is responsible for the overall technical aspects of projects in the Civil/Structural/Architectural Department. Directs other Engineers, Designers, and Drafters for the generation of construction drawings. Develops and maintains manpower projection documentation. Helps ensure that all team members assigned to this position are following department procedures across the board with no exceptions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Oversees and is responsible for the overall technical aspects of the C/S/A part of project.
- Assume leadership of a project team as a lead engineer and coordinate the design aspects of the projects. This includes the generation of calculations and design drawings as well as field work.
- Assess the requirements of a project, break a project into tasks, and work with other engineers to define the scope of work, budget and staffing.
- Prepare engineering studies and schematic design for steel structures and concrete foundations.
- Checks all technical calculations and drawings for accuracy.
- Write scope of work for design based on preliminary review and meetings with the client.
- Prepare or review construction budgets based on experience and scope of project.
- Maintains communications between other engineers and other disciplines to assure schedule and budget accuracy. Responsible for man hour budget and schedule.
- Generates all appropriate discipline communication records for proper dissemination of project information.
- Mentor and help grow the department in experience and resources.
- May be involved in the interviewing and hiring process of potential candidates based on resource needs.
- Increase communications as the workload increases.
- May serve as a field engineer during construction.

REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Knowledge of structural engineering design principles and practices
- Able to design concrete and steel using STAAD Pro and other
computer
software
- Displays a good work ethic
- Above average communication skills (verbal and writing)
- A high degree of capability in engineering management, communications, client relationship, and team management skills
- Able to delegate appropriately
- Strong computer skills
- Able to work well under pressure
- Able to manage time and resources efficiently
- Training/mentoring other engineers

SOFTWARE
Experience:
- Must be able to use STAAD PRO or RISA
- Proficiency in MS Windows, MS outlook, MS Excel, MS Word
- Knowledge of AutoCAD 2007 or newer version and 3-D drawing is a plus.
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited university/college in Civil Engineering.
- Professional Engineering registration, by examination, is required.
Experience:
- Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience (maximum of 20)in Civil/Structural design as a Structural Engineer.
- Experience with a consulting engineering firm (doing industrial projects).Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
