The following job description describes the criteria for the role of Mid-Level Software Visualization Engineer. The Mid-Level Software Visualization Engineer develops or modifies application programs for operations ranging from routine to the complex to highly specialized. He/she designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, and maintains programs. H/she works in all levels and phases of application systems analysis and programming activities. Focus is on Data Analysis and Scientific Visualization development. Required Skills: Four or more years in Software Engineering and Development. Knowledgeable in current software development (e.g., Java, C ) techniques that exploit latest advances in computer technology to produce fast executing programs. Familiar with structured programming technique (e.g., Rapid Application Development, Joint Application Development) methods. Proficiency in software development to include requirements development, software design, software coding and testing, integration, and acceptance testing. Proficiency in graphics programming (e.g., OpenGL) and visualization applications (e.g., Ensight and Paraview). Knowledge of computer graphics and visualization principles is a must. Desired Skills: Experience designing and support software programs in an high performance computer environment. Experience developing programs using parallelization techniques such as MPI and OpenMP.
