Description:
Our client is currently seeking a Computer Operator to work weekends under general supervision.
Responsible for assisting mainframe and open systems computer operation activities, network monitoring, and printed output.
This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.
Local candidates.

Associates Degree or higher
Work hours
Saturday & Sunday: Noon to Midnight
Two days during the week (TBD)
Job Responsibilities
Oversees the operation of computer hardware systems, including coordinating and scheduling the use of computer terminals and networks to ensure efficient use.
Performs offline functions such as bursting and decollating of printed output. Read job set-up instructions to determine equipment to be used, order of use, material such as disks and paper to be loaded, and control settings. Processing of printed output utilizing high speed laser page printers, high speed impact printers and cut sheet printer. Responds to program error messages by finding and correcting problems or terminating the program.
Cleaning and daily maintenance of printers, tape drive devices and other Data Center equipment. Routine quality checks of printed output.
Monitors the system for equipment failure or errors in performance and notifies supervisor or computer maintenance technicians of equipment malfunctions. Enter commands, using computer terminal, and activate controls on computer and peripheral equipment to integrate and operate equipment.
Proper labeling and distribution of printed output. Retrieves, separates, and sorts program output as needed, and sends data to specified users. . Loads peripheral equipment with selected materials for operating runs, or oversees loading of peripheral equipment by peripheral equipment operators.
Inventory of forms located in warehouse and Data Center. Transportation of forms as required. .
Mounting, assist in maintaining records and proper distribution of tapes for Data Center.
Assist Computer Support Analyst in other higher level functions when required
Performs other duties as assigned
Additional Requirements
Must have experience with JES2, MVS-ESA, VTAM, DB2, CICS, ACF2/RACF, IMS, TCP/IP, TSO, ISPF, SDSF Z/OS
Ability to read, comprehends, and assimilates technical documents and uses that knowledge for practical application.
Working knowledge of all computer systems, software, and hardware.
Able to effectively communicate to direct contacts through written and verbal media.
Ability to lift and carry a minimum of forty pounds.
Ability to participate and contribute towards highly effective teams.
Knowledge of computer hardware and software.
Knowledge of auditing or verifying information or data.
Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
Ability to enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in written or electronic/magnetic form.
Work Environment
Normal work location is at the client offices, work will be done primarily in One Capitol Mall building.
Job will require daily automotive travel. Occasional intra-city travel is required to attend seminars and training sessions. The possibility exists for long-distance travel, including transportation by air.
Job may require regular driving of the clients automobile. The ability, willingness and drivers license status to drive the clients vehicle are mandatory
