Scope of
position
:
Develop, scale-up and validate plastic forming processes used in the manufacture of new products. Serve as a member on assigned project teams as a Development resource.
Day to Day
Responsibilities:
Support development of new products and develop processes for plastic forming processes (primarily injection molding) and secondary processes.
Work with Pilot Manufacturing and Division Engineering during transfer of new processes to Production.
Plan, carry out experiments and provide data analysis to define new process parameters and control limits.
Use statistical methods for product and process analysis.
Develop resolution to routine technical problems and execute solutions within developed timelines.
Participate in reviews of product designs and mold designs for assigned projects.
Interface with outside vendors that provide materials or services for assigned projects.
Take responsibility for own personal and professional growth.
Actively participate in internal departmental activities.
Participate in project reviews and department meetings.
Document project learning in formal reports.
Document novel solutions which may be patentable.
Travel Requirements: 10%
Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: M-F 8am - 5pm
Required Education/
Experience:
BS in Plastics Engineering and 0-5 years of related experience
OR BS in Mechanical/Materials/Chemical Engineering and 1-5 years of related experience
MS in Plastics Engineering desired
Required Skills:
Process development
Strong
computer
skills: proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Working knowledge of statistics.
Experience/knowledge of injection molding machinery
Desired Skills:
Secondary process techniques (Example: plastic part assembly methods)
Working knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks)
Experience with FEA techniques.
Training in DOE techniques and data analysis.
Soft Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
