GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under the general direction of the Senior Vice President-Finance, the Controller is responsible for the daily management of general accounting functions, including cash receipts, payroll and accounts payable and for administering the approved accounting policies and procedures throughout the Association. The position is responsible for the preparation of complete and accurate monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The Controller may assist in the preparation of the Association Operating Budget and the United Way Program Budget. The Controller is responsible for maintaining the fiscal integrity of all contract funded programs as well as for all transactions of the Association.

Qualifications:
Specialized and Technical or Practical Know-How:

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited college or university with an understanding of and experience in the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) are required. At least five year's experience in a supervisory accounting role with experience in a not-for-profit environment is very desirable. Controller should have a working knowledge of banks, banking systems and cash management and must be highly
computer
literate, with an ability to develop and use spreadsheets and manage software systems. Human Relations Skills: Human relations and relationship building skills to maintain responsive and cooperative relationships are essential as the Controller has daily contact with other staff, branch personnel and outside vendors. Controller must possess sound management skills as much of the position's success is determined and measured throughout the daily performance of the Controller's supervised accounting staff.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
