Overview
Our client is currently seeking to fill an opening for a Controls Engineer. This identified candidate will be responsible for supporting Manufacturing Engineering activities associated with current products and future launches of new products at this site.
Responsible for the design and/or testing of tooling and equipment and/or planning the manufacturing processes in a designated area of the manufacturing plant. Work is of a technical nature where decisions are made within limits of general practices and procedures, but where supervision is available to handle unusual situations. Occasionally may exercise technical direction over other engineers or engineering support personnel with specific engineering objectives.
? Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the

? Analyzes product designs for best method of manufacture
? Proposes and evaluates manufacturing processes and equipment for assigned areas.
? Directs the design, development and/or improvements of manufacturing processes and equipment for assigned areas.
? Provides technical support and training for existing machine control systems directly and with skilled trades resources
? Coordinates input from internal/external customers to better understand customer needs and/or perceptions
? Keeps abreast of current product developments and trends in areas of expertise
? Actively identifies new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities
? Evaluates expenditures for processes and/or equipment.
? Maintains cost controls.
? Initiate and coordinate conveyor/ tool/equipment development, buyoff & validation activities.
? Work with central office engineering to deliver a complete, fully integrated, safe & validated manufacturing system.
? Provide spare parts, maintenance & continuous improvement strategies to the plant's operations teams.
? Work with production teams and maintenance teams on continuous improvement projects.
? Demonstrate a leadership role in assigned area in understanding conveyors, manufacturing processes, equipment, & tooling.
? Support production team during prototype, pilot & validation through acceleration to implementation.
? Provide leadership in assigned area for preventative maintenance, and the reliability and maintainability of conveyors and equipment.
? Strives to continuously improve conveyors/tools/equipment Maintenance Cycle between Failure/Maintenance Time to Respond (MCBF/MTTR). Provide floor troubleshooting assistance & root cause analysis.
? Fully support the team concept.
? Lead the throughput improvement process and engage team members in identification and resolution of maintenance and engineering issues.
Basic Required Skills:
? Leadership skills including planning, scheduling, and implementation of project work by unionized plant trades or outside contractors.
? Experience with Powertrain process equipment, knowledge of system engineering, software development & hardware integration.
? Highly developed oral & written communication skills.
? High level of interpersonal skills with sensitivity to other's points of view & to make contributions to the resolution of complex manufacturing problems.
? Demonstrated ability to listen to & support Team Members.
? Thorough understanding of planned and predictive maintenance and the Maximo system.
? Thorough understanding of GM Safety policies, specifications, and audit module requirements.
? Working knowledge of PLC, HMI, Drive Controllers, Robotics, Vision systems, CNC controls, and Communication software.
Basic Preferred Skills
? Highly developed knowledge of integration plant floor monitoring systems and/or simulation techniques.
? Statistical Process Control (SPC) skills.
? Experience/knowledge of GM-Global Manufacturing System (GMS).
? Experience working in a team environment.
? Knowledge of continuous improvement processes.
? Knowledge of Competitive Manufacturing Strategies
? Working knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC/HMI Controls, RSLogix, GE Fanuc CNC Controls, Fanuc Robotics, Siemens CNC Controls, Ethernet IP, Allen Bradley Data Highway Plus, Remote I/O, Profibus, and Cognex Vision systems.
Education and Training:
? Bachelors in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
