Responsibilities:
The RF Design Engineer designs, plans, and oversees the entire Radio Access Network design process to include radio propagation modeling, site candidate selection, frequency planning, network design modifications, link budget analysis, coverage prediction, and mapping.
The ideal candidate will be able to work with limited supervision to create an RF engineering design for a brand new nationwide network. The candidate will assist site development in site selection, propagation modeling, and antenna placement and selection. This candidate will be working with field resources, construction managers, and other engineers to design a robust, reliable RF network.
The best engineer for this
position
will demonstrate out of the box thinking, the ability to solve complex network problems, and a history of providing sound technical recommendations to network deployment teams.
Technical Skills Requirements:
Strong practical knowledge of RF engineering principles, propagation characteristics, antenna characteristics, and the ability to describe these aspects in layman's terms
Ability to tune propagation models through transmitter and drive tests
Knowledge of propagation modeling software including, but not limited to ATDI HTZ Telecom Designer, ATDI HTZ ICS Designer, Mentum Planet, EDX SignalPro, Optimi Wizard
Expert knowledge of MapInfo Professional
A variety of Microsoft Office Applications
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in
computer
Science, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
7-10 years successful, progressive development as a wireless engineer
