The Section Leader will provide leadership and direction to a group of IT professionals responsible for multiple technical projects, operations and/or support activities. The size and range of group will vary, but typically consists of 4-8 associates at level E05 and below. This is a hands-on technical leader role with 50% or time spent on managerial activities and 50% as an IT practitioner.
Requirements
4 Year Bachelors Degree in
computer
Science, MIS, Engineering or related IT focused discipline or equivalent experience required.
Equivalent experience must include 3-5 years experience in IT field/computer operations and 4-5 years of supervisory experience in which one or more of the following occurred- Demonstrated success in executing a large project/Demonstrated leadership capabilities and initiative in solving problems/Gained experience in managing resources to meet goals across a project
10 yrs of technical experience in a variety of IT disciplines gaining a conceptual knowledge of information technologies and methodologies
3-5 yrs experience in project management/leadership roles for major development or operations projects.
Demonstrated successful experience in developing efficient and effective solutions to business problems.
Advanced knowledge of IT field and in-depth knowledge & technical expertise of one specialty area. Immediate knowledge of management principles.
Have the necessary leadership, team building, motivation, and delegation skills to efficiently coordinate the efforts of a team toward accomplishing a common goal.
Can inspire team commitment and enthusiasm. Has knowledge of creative means to recognize team and individual accomplishments.
Good presentation skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Successfully perform hands on technical operations and activities in order to meet department objectives and customer needs.
Plan, coordinate, schedule assignments and projects with subordinates, and participate in establishing tactical plans.
Perform managerial activities such as hiring, performance management processes, associate development, department staffing, budgeting, communicate and enforce policies and procedures.
Determine specific resources and skills required for on-going activities and provide leadership to staff all projects within area of responsibility.
Ensure that IT operation standards, processes and procedures are executed.
Monitor project development and communicate project progression frequently to upper management, staff and customers.
Research and proactively recommend tools, resources and new technology to satisfy operational requirements and customer needs.
