, seeks a Managing Director to develop and lead the KU Academic Accelerator Program (KUAAP) for newly-admitted international undergraduate students. The KUAAP combines English Language instruction and support with academic instruction and acculturation. Reporting to the KUAAP Steering Committee, the Managing Director is the most senior member of the KUAAP staff and is responsible for building the program, providing strategic and ongoing leadership for the program, and managing the day-to-day operations of the program.

The successful candidate will be a skilled leader and manager who can lead an innovative educational collaboration. The primary responsibility of this individual will be to ensure the delivery of a high-quality experience for the program's international students by providing specialized attention and guidance, as well as ensuring the smooth operation and fiscal stability of the program.

The Managing Director will lead and inspire, displaying an entrepreneurial spirit to start this new program. This individual will be a strategic thinker with the capacity to see the big picture while also attending to details including personnel and budget. The Managing Director will be skilled at creating a team, and will enthuse and galvanize colleagues around the institution's mission, vision, and goals.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations
Work closely with KU, Shorelight Education, and the KUAAP Steering Committee to manage the program's operations and
services
, including finance, marketing,
real estate
, recruitment of administrative and support staff, student services, procedures, and the overall student experience
Ensure program quality as a means of student progression and retention
Supervise the KUAAP Student Services Director and Academic Director functions
Maintain accurate records and reporting on all aspects of the program
Maintain overall profit and loss responsibility including budget management
Develop staffing plan, recruit, hire, and provide for development of initial and on-going KUAAP administrative staff
Liaise with key KU staff and administration to set enrollment targets and oversee the matriculation and onboarding of new students initially and onwards through the student life cycle
In cooperation with the other program directors, liaise with key KU staff and administration including, but not limited to, the KUAAP Steering Committee members, the Academic Director, the Student Services Director, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Applied English Center, International Student Services, International Recruitment and Undergraduate Admissions, staff members in Student Affairs, Housing, and the University Registrar
Analyze data and report on the progress of the program and achievement of its objectives
Foster external relations and partnerships that will enhance the profile and success of the program
Ensure the program adheres to the academic and language proficiency standards set by the University of Kansas
Ensure continuous review and improvement of the program
Represent the program internationally and domestically, including participation in marketing
events
, familiarization tours, and professional associations as relevant
Maintain membership in NAFSA and other associations or organizations as relevant to the mission of the program
Ensure academic integrity and compliance and follow all KU policies and regulations
Demonstrate sound judgment and common sense in all decisions relating to program operations

Key Relationships

Partner with KU administrators and faculty, and staff members to ensure the programs, employees, and students are fully integrated into the campus
community
Collaborate with academic units and the Applied English Center to develop programs that meet KU's goals and further strengthen the university's mission, international reach, and outstanding reputation
Support the Academic Director on curriculum development, student assessment and academic progress, and the development of new academic programs

Meet enrollment benchmarks and five-year enrollment plans as set by the KUAAP Steering Committee
Maximize student satisfaction

Required Qualifications
Earned master's degree with a minimum of five years' experience in higher education management or management in a complex organization
Evidence of strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to multitask and attend to details

Preferred Qualifications & Selection Criteria
Earned doctorate with a minimum of five years of experience in higher education administration or similar complex organization
Experience working with international students in an administrative or academic capacity
Understanding of student support services for international students
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and creative-thinking abilities
Record of profit and loss experience
Record of leadership delivering strategic, financial, and operational objectives
Proven ability to recruit, lead, motivate, coach, develop, and retain top academic and administrative staff
Demonstrated experience working successfully with a non-native English speaking clientele
Demonstrated exceptional interpersonal, communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
Ability to network within higher education circles and garner respect among academic leaders
Ability to work in a diverse environment, and exhibit cross-cultural competence and understanding
Experience working within an educational collaboration and/or a complex organization
High-energy level and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Hands-on approach to customer service and business growth and diligent work ethic, as evidence through the interview process
Eligibility to work in and travel freely to and from the US
