Senior Backup Architect (EMC/Data Domain/Avamar) Prestigious Enterprise Retail Firm is currently seeking a Senior Lead Backup Architect for their Lincolnshire, IL location. Job Summary Responsible for planning, designing, and analysing the organization's backup infrastructure according to best practices, while ensuring high levels of data quality and availability. Develops, implements, and oversees policies and procedures to ensure consistent data backup, recoverability, and regulatory compliance. Responsible for capacity planning, backup and restore process design, architecture, performance analysis, and developing data disaster recovery plans. Job Responsibilities- Leads the development of long-term architecture vision, strategy, and roadmaps for ensuring data recoverability for Servers and databases across the organization in conjunction with company objectives. - Establishes strategies for tape to disk based appliance consolidation, centralization, and optimization to reduce downtime and costs while improving security and backup performance. - Works closely with operations, project management, application development, network security, and DBA teams to develop scalable, maintainable, consistent, highly available backup architectures that meet; business objectives and set relevant service-level agreements. - Performs capacity planning analysis and other needs assessments to inform backup architecture strategy. - Designs redundant systems and policies for disaster recovery and archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of server based data and stored data assets. - Develops procedures for backups and restores, as well as monitors the performance, success, or failure of these tasks. - Defines, communicates, and ensures adherence to data storage retention policies and creates routines for end-users to facilitate backup best practices. - Develops and maintains procedures for backup change management, availability management, backup management, incident management and process documentation. - Develops and maintains testing process for current, new, and modified backup appliances and software. - Maintains current knowledge of backup related laws, trends, and issues, including current and emerging technologies and best practices. - Develops strategies and policies to ensure best-practice based regulatory compliance and reduces the enterprises' legal exposure. - Justifies expenditures on backup solutions through business cases, return on investment and total cost of ownership analyses. - Transfers the backup architecture requirements into a solution configuration that will be installed and configured. - Takes the architecture requirements and plans and develops a validation strategy and schedule for testing the solution before releasing to production. - Manages the purchase, installation, and configuration of new and existing backup devices and corresponding software. - Oversees backup, recovery and disaster recovery

to business units across the enterprise based on established requirements and future growth. - Ensures IT adherence to service level agreements regarding data recoverability, limitations, and availability. - Anticipates, identifies, and oversees mitigation and response to data recoverability problems, retrieval issues, and backup device status issues. - Ensures that information data retention measures and equipment adhere to all applicable laws and regulations. - Recommends and implements changes where necessary. - Analyzes backup systems performance, collects information, and prepares summary reports. - Performs capacity planning for production, data warehouse, reporting and other systems to include backup server and appliance memory, CPU and load. - Manages and/or provides guidance to junior members of the team. Basic Qualifications and Interests- Bachelor's Degree and at least 12 years of experience in the IT industry. - At least 8 years of experience in enterprise backup administration and disaster recovery. - At least 5 years of experience in Systems and/or Network Administration. - At least 5 years of experience in capacity planning systems and recovery in a Real Time or near Real Time environment. - At least 5 years of experience in administering, troubleshooting, and supporting backup software and related backup devices including Tape library, VTL solution. - Experience in backing up and working with NAS based solutions such as NetApp. - Experience with hardware and software products, such as EMC Networker, Avamar and Data Domain. - Experience with other backup platforms such as NetBackup and Commvaul. - Experience with managing and supporting backup solutions for large database environments. - Extensive Experience in conducting DR tests using NetWorker. - Experience in working across ecosystem comprising of Solaris, Linux, AIX and VMWare. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
