PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
This associate is primarily responsible for preparing and analyzing invoices and fee schedule setups related to private account fee billing in compliance with
control
procedures, preparing and recording general ledger entries and account reconciliations and communicating with internal and external business partners.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
General ledger recording and reconciliation. Prepares, records, and/or analyzes financial transactions for assigned accounts to accumulate and record accurately and timely Performs account reconciliations and analyses to identify issues in transaction processing, prepares estimates for and analysis of accruals and corporate forecasts. Researches and proposes resolution for discrepancies. The Staff Accountant owns a part of the ledger and, as a part of maintaining the
accounting
for it, must interpret accounting/tax rules & regulations to make decisions about reconciliations/reporting.
Produces and analyzes invoices in the advisory billing system. Prepares or coordinates printing and approval queues.
Assigns and/or creates client fee schedules in the Qual environment of the billings system and tests fee calculations at various asset levels to ensure accuracy of client account setups.
Process improvement and project work. Expected to identify and implement process improvements. Generates ideas and collaborates with others to improve existing processes, communication, and recordkeeping. Assists to develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with corporate policies and standards.
Analysis and customer service. Calls internal customers (business units) to get answers to questions/respond to questions about ledger entries and client invoicing. Calls external customers (regulatory agencies, vendors) to get answers to questions/respond to questions about regulatory reports/filings and ledger entries. Elevates questions to
manager
if necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred
Degree in accounting
Prior work experience in accounting
Working toward CPA or CMA
Experience with financial systems
Required
College degree, or
Associate degree and 2 years related work experience, or
High school diploma/equivalent and 3 years related work experience
Proficient in Excel and PC skills
Strong communication skills
Problem solving skills
Able to work independently
