Administers New Albertson's, Inc.'s Health & Welfare Benefits Programs including Group Life, Disability, Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA and EAP. Formulates Policies, Objectives, and Plan Requirements related to the Program and advises HR, LR and Shared
services
on eligibility, enrollment, administrative issues, amount of coverage and claim procedures. Prepares requirement documents, maintains benefits records and reports necessary for implementing and maintaining Health & Welfare Benefit Plans. Performs assigned special projects related to the administration of the Company's
employee
Benefits Programs.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Responsible for creating policies and procedures and then providing direction to Shared Services, the PeopleSoft team and I.T. for the proper administration of the Health & Welfare Plan, such as determining eligibility to participate, enrollment, leaves of absence, associate contributions, and communications. Functions as Business Owner for PeopleSoft system testing when setting up new benefit plans or for any required changes.
Responds to H.R., L.R., Shared Services, attorneys, courts, and regulators regarding interpretation or challenges to the Plans.
Responsible for creating, editing and distributing Summary Plan Descriptions (SPD's) and plan documents.
Coordinates the full Annual Enrollment project, working with IT, Shared Services, New Albertson's, Inc. Human Resources, the communications vendor and all affected service providers, such as third party administrators or insurance companies. Creates enrollment communication materials for all benefits areas including medical, dental, vision, EAP, FSA, disability and life insurance and coordinates distribution of materials.
Manages the Dependent Eligibility Audit process with outside vendor, including auditing of spousal surcharge policy.
Responsible for management of the New Albertson's, Inc. Wellness Program, including proper credits provided to associates who participate, review and editing of communication materials and distribution of communications to H.R., L.R. and associates.
Attends and makes presentations to the New Albertson's, Inc. Benefit Plans Committee
Ensures data is properly captured, transmitted to and processed by all outside service providers, such as third party administrators and insurance companies. Primary contact for all outside service providers and responsible for guidance to ensure plan administration occurs properly.
Member of the New Albertson's, Inc. Benefits Administrative Committee, created to decide eligibility, contribution and administrative appeals.
Manages special projects and assists Managers, Directors and
executive
Leaders in the completion of special projects.
Supervises the maintenance of benefit records and documents necessary in establishing and maintaining an employee's eligibility to participate in the employee benefits plans.
Monitors legal requirements for governmental compliance in areas such as Health Care Reform (PPACA), ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, QMCSOs, etc.
Continues to update education through online and print resources.
Work directly with 3rd party claims administrators and Human Resources Finance department to prepare, finalize and file the annual Form 5500 for the New Albertson's, Inc. Health & Welfare Plan.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field preferred.
5 years benefits experience where a comprehensive understanding of the Company's benefits has been gained.
Complete understanding of the state and federal laws effecting programs.
Experience, technical ability and overall understanding of the benefit programs and their administration for the Company, their unions and their competitors.
Previous experience in benefits administration where a good understanding of federal statutes and laws governing lawful administration has been gained.
Prior work experience working with Company's benefits programs desirable.
Supervisory skills and ability to work with, and through, others to achieve desired results.
Proven ability to provide efficient coordination and clear communication to all benefit eligible associates, human resource, personnel, labor relations and benefits departments in an efficient and timely manner.
Knowledge of company's general systems, policies, and business practices.
