The Performance Analysis Group at UTAS Air Management Systems is seeking an exceptional candidate to provide expertise in the simulation, analysis, and design of integrated aircraft thermal management systems (e.g. environmental control, engine bleed air regulation, air distribution, liquid and vapor cycle cooling systems, and gas inerting systems). The candidate must lead negotiation of requirements and system interfaces with stakeholders and present data to drive decision making within a multi-disciplinary team. The candidate must independently execute core tasks including system architecture trade studies, system optimization and component requirements decomposition, system test plan development and model validation, requirements compliance analysis, and root cause investigation for in-service product problems. Regular interactions with Project Engineering, Component Design, System Controls, and Reliability are required. In addition, the candidate will be expected to support technical interactions with the customer (both commercial and military) as well as suppliers on a regular basis.
The ideal candidate will have a graduate degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with an emphasis in the thermal sciences (thermodynamics, heat & mass transfer, fluid mechanics) and an exceptional academic record. The candidate should have a strong fundamental knowledge of the thermodynamics and fluid dynamics of pneumatic, liquid, and/or vapor cycle systems. The candidate shall also have experience with the development and use of models to optimize power, cooling, and/or chemical processing system architectures and the associated component requirements to meet key system level performance parameters. Experience with multi-disciplinary design optimization or design for variability methods is desired. The candidate must possess a working knowledge of MATLAB or a similar simulation environment. Additional qualifications include strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams. - U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green Card)
