Payroll Tax Specialist Job Payroll Tax Specialist needed for a contract opportunity to join Yoh's client in Santa Ana, CA. What You'll Be Doing: - Garnishments and Tax: - Compile payroll data and statistics for payroll taxes. - Review, maintain and ensure accurate interpretation of state, federal and local tax regulations in all 50 States of the US where we operate. - Reconcile related payroll information for funding and wire requests. - Support balancing of bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax files; review federal, state and local tax returns and payments for the organization. - Responsible for accurate set up and system maintenance of SUI rates, tax jurisdictions by work location, both state and local and verification of employee work-in/resident state taxes when they differ. - Create interface files for third party vendor. - Support annual W2 balancing, reporting, and printing. - Responsible for internal and external research of escalated issues. - Process employee wage garnishments. - Support the eWorkforce service center through phone call or service ticket creation. - Testing of HRMS releases and system upgrades. - Learn, prepare and create standard and ad hoc reports. - Payroll Tax Accounting: - Assists in the maintenance of payroll related accounts and the reconciliation of one or more General Ledger accounts. - Prepares various schedules, reports and summaries. - Support Payroll Tax Manager and Corp Accounting office with analysis and reconciliation. - Assists with the preparation of data and reports for internal and external audit. - May perform other related duties or ad hoc projects within the scope of responsibilities. - Maintain and update desk procedures and documentation. - Independence and Supervision: - Work under supervision applying well-established techniques, procedures or specific standards. Work reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall accuracy. - Ability to exercise sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. - No responsibility for supervision of others. What You Need To Bring To The Table: - Minimum of high school diploma/GED or equivalent. - Some college a plus - A minimum of two to four (2 - 4) years of experience in tax reporting, filing returns, and agency resolution; with at least three (3) years of recent experience in a processing role. - Experienced analysis and research in agency reconciliation and compliance related to payroll tax for federal, state and local tax jurisdictions required. - Knowledge of in-house Multi-State payroll, high volume, large employer experience (5,000 ) using multiple federal tax ID's (FEIN) required. - Fundamental knowledge in area of specialization with the ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet short deadlines. - Garnishment experience desired. - PC Proficiency in MS Office Suite. Intermediate skills in Excel including functions, calculations and filtering. - Understanding of HRMS systems and payroll processing best practices. - Ultimate Software experience a plus. Get Hired.
