For additional information on our business, please visit our website: . UTAS-ISR is seeking a Systems Engineer for an important role within its Strategic Technology Group (STG). This
position
will play a critical role in driving the development of key strategic technologies that will enable the development of next-generation infrared system level products. Must also be comfortable in defining system level specifications (electrical, optical, and mechanical) and overall requirements as necessary to drive the assessment, vendor selection, and management of viable 3rd party developers.
Minimum B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Physics, Masters or higher level degree preferred.
Desired skills include: Experience with Infrared Imaging Systems, Focal Plane Arrays (FPAs) specifications and lab evaluations, optics/lens system specifications, camera
electronics
(including FPGA based designs), software integration, and image processing algorithms. Knowledge of low-cost, low-power electronics, as well as optics and imager specifications along with their translation into overall system performance is critical. Knowledge of mechanical design concepts and integration required. Must be an independent self-starter and excellent at driving projects forward with minimal supervision. Should be entrepreneurial in approach to these new technology developments and leverage external resources to achieve desired end goals. Good interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as the position will entail significant interaction with other departments, vendors, and customers. The candidate should be comfortable making presentations at all levels.
Education - Minimum B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Physics, Masters or higher level degree preferred.
