## Description
Acquires echocardiographic data using transthoracic transducer acquisition with the patient at rest under the supervision and/or direction of a physician. Work includes morphologic imaging, assessment of myocardial function, recording of hemodynamic parameters, visualization of blood flow. May perform stress and contrast echocardiographic testing under the direction of a physician.
Key Functions and Expected Performances:
1. Gathers echocardiographic diagnostic images for all patients including the clinically complex patients.
1. Correctly includes patient specific demographics, clinical information, medical record number, case number.
2. Images recorded match images request.
3. Makes appropriate preliminary measurements, performs calculations, summarizes information from study
4. Demonstrated ability to use all available echo equipment
5. Demonstrated skill in acquiring clear images on clinically complex patients
6. Demonstrated ability to tailor image acquisition to patient specific information
7. Performs echocardiographc studies for patients with congenital heart problems with assistance
2. Communicates findings to physicians or Echocardiographic technologist II or III.
1. Explains procedure to patient
2. Recognizes and interprets abnormal studies
3. Notifies physician of abnormal findings
4. Correctly records measurements and diagnostic findings
3. Works as a team to complete work of the Echocardiographic department
1. Demonstrates flexibility in accepting work assignments
2. Assists other staff in completion of work and directs work flow when necessary
3. Assist Echocardiographic technologist I in acquiring difficult images
4. Is able to complete 7-8 adult studies and/or 6-10 pediatric studies in 8 hour period
5. Maintains clean work environment
## Basic Qualifications
Job requires High school graduate or GED and 3 years of experience or the equivalent.
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration (LCR):
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer
