JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the identification, development & management of products and programs that support Marriott eCommerce Marketing strategy, specifically Search Engine Optimization (SEO) programs. The incumbent will ensure Marriott is competitive within the industry, optimize Marriott's online performance in search engines, and directly drive or influence gross booking revenue and non-room revenue to all Marriott hotels.
This position reports to Sr. Manager, Global SEO.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 3-5 years' experience in the business, sales and marketing, management operations, or related professional area.
Experience
3-5 years Internet marketing experience
Hands-on skills and experience in eCommerce marketing, specifically SEO strategy and tactics.
Online agency experience is a plus
Ability to analyze data across multiple reporting sources and create savvy reports detailing trends, projections, etc.
Proven ability to lead and work with cross-functional teams in support of specific business priorities
Demonstrates self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm
Effective written and oral communications skills
Ability to manage multiple agencies/vendors
Ability to solve problems quickly, think creatively and satisfy Internet speed-to-market requirements
Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects
Team player who works well with counterparts from various functions/departments and has the ability to influence the work of counterparts without direct reporting accountability
Spanish, German, French, and Chinese, Japanese, and/or Portuguese language proficiency a plus.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Strategy & Business Objectives
Responsible for several initiatives in support of Marriott's Search Engine Optimization (SEO) programs which optimize and mobile sites for high organic search placement within major in-market search engines
Develop content strategies that align with business goals
Utilize demand and site metrics to determine appropriate keyword targets
Develop and present business cases and strategic recommendations for participation to appropriate stakeholders
Develop onsite strategies that target influential site and page-level elements
Define key elements and provide strategy that promote best practices
Develop and provide technical optimization strategies
Develop external optimization strategies that include high-quality, high-value tactics
Define valuable content assets and relevant distribution outlets
Work with agency and internal partners to deliver creative assets such as articles, infographics, interactives, and videos
Explore and evaluate proposals for new content and off-site initiatives in support of optimizing keyword targets. May involve maintaining relationships with multiple external vendors and partners.
Create scalable content creation strategies
Develop content marketing strategies that leverage the growing connection between social and search
Prioritize existing social channels based on search influence; keeping up with emerging networks
Define best practices to optimize content within relevant social spaces
Support all keyword targets through integration within key social channels
Manage and execute a blogger outreach strategy focused on highly relevant and quality sites
Build enterprise knowledge and evangelize SEO best practices to partners throughout the organization
Provide SEO consulting to groups within Corporate (PD, IR, Corporate Communications, Brand Marketing, eCommerce), as well as provide support for regional marketing organizations, owners and franchisees, and hotel level efforts
Assist with SEO performance analysis using various analytics platforms; make recommendations for key areas of improvement
Create compelling presentations and communicate campaign results with internal stakeholders
Review monthly program performance reports, analyze and communicate results to appropriate stakeholders.
Partner with Analysis resources to mine website data, syndicated research, and other customer insight tools to develop strategies and provide insights
Monitor industry activities, competitive trends - both inside and outside of the travel industry - and develop competitive benchmarking analyses.
SEO Program Execution
Provide SEO input and business direction for select Marriott product lines
Serve as the SEO eCommerce expert within the product line teams
Manage research that supports specific project work
Manage execution of all content optimization initiatives on
Provide oversight to internal and external resources to ensure onsite content creation and maintenance is implemented properly and in a timely fashion
Communicate program progress and results on a monthly basis
Manage execution of all external optimization initiatives for including:
Coordinating the work of multiple external vendors as well as internal resources to implement new efforts including content creation & maintenance
Providing direction and collaborating closely with Continent, Corporate Communications, Brand Marketing, and Marriott Rewards teams to ensure social search strategy is pull through and integrated within managed channels
Communicate program progress and results on a monthly basis
Responsible for managing online local marketing tactics, which may include:
Oversight and maintenance of local maps feeds
Optimization of current and new feeds. May involve managing relationships with multiple external vendors and partners
Managing local marketing vendor relationships, assessing performance and new vendor proposals
Other duties as assigned
Interaction with Key Corporate Stakeholders
Develop guidelines and best practices within areas of expertise, share learning with appropriate stakeholders
Update Marriott Global Source and Search teamshare site as appropriate
Participate on monthly eCommerce phone calls as appropriate and share learnings
Coordinate efforts and create synergies with the Emerge SEO team
Works internally with Marketing, Product Development, IR, Measurement & Analysis, Field, Corporate communications, and Brand Marketing teams
Liaises with the field to mitigate duplication of efforts and increase Marriott's overall presence in the search engines.
Partner with internal Paid Search and mobile teams to maximize the performance of campaigns
Vendor Relationship Management
Supports day-to-day management and deliverables from all marketing agencies of record
Manage external vendors to implement and deliver against SEO campaigns
Provide direction to agencies for regular generation of industry trend updates in the form of POVs
Negotiate and manage vendor agreements and associated budgets.
Generate reports highlighting key metrics and regular optimization discussions with agencies and partners.
