Event Services - Casual, Conference Support NCAR The University Corporation for Atmospheric Research (UCAR), which operates the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder seeks hourly workers to fill in for staff setting up facility rooms for conferences and special events. You will read work orders or follow oral instructions to identify furniture or materials to be moved and load, unload, and move furniture and materials to specified location. In addition, duties include setting up folding tables and chairs, displays and other materials according to required configuration. Uses handtruck or rolling cart to move heavier items and readily responds to customer requests for changes to furniture and materials placement. Also alerts supervisor to set-up problems and recommends solutions, and performs work in a timely manner so that rooms are sufficiently set up for events. Scheduling will be on an occasional, as-needed basis. Majority of hours will be between 6:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. during the week, although some evening and weekend hours will be required. Flexible schedule, not to exceed 1000 hours in one twelve-month period. Requires High School diploma or equivalent and skill in reading and understanding written directions and charts. Must have ability to make independent decisions to meet UCAR and customer needs and ability to work to manage multiple priorities and with attention to detail. Requires excellent customer relation skills, good communication skills, and good organizational skills. Requires ability to adapt to changing workload and task assignments, skill in setting priorities and meeting deadlines, physical ability to lift up to 70 pounds and ability to lift, stand, or walk for prolonged periods of time. Experience in conference set ups desired but not required. This is an Event Services Casual (on-call hourly/no benefits) position.
