Follow all applicable state and federal regulations while transporting hazardous materials :
Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes and obtain receipts or signatures when loads are delivered :
Check all load:
related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate :
Secure cargo for transport, using straps, blocks, chain, binders, and/or covers :
Read bills of lading to determine assignment details :
Couple and uncouple trailers by changing trailer jack positions, connecting or disconnecting air and electrical lines, and manipulating fifth:
wheel locks :
Drive trucks to weigh stations before and after loading and along routes, in order to document weights and to comply with state regulations :
Operate equipment such as truck cab computers (e.

, Peoplenet), and telephones to exchange necessary information with inventory planners, supervisors, or other drivers :
Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage and remove any debris from trailers after loading or unloading is completed :
Crank trailer landing gear up and down to safely secure vehicles :
Inventory and inspect goods to be moved, in order to determine quantities and conditions :
Climb ladders to inspect loads after loading is complete, in order to ensure that cargo is secure and use fall protection as required :
Follow special procedures related to specific cargo, hazardous materials :
