Summary:
Medical technologist needed to work at the Utah State Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. A new reference veterinary clinical pathology laboratory is being constructed at this location and the qualified individual will be responsible for assisting the clinical pathologist with ordering equipment, validating procedures, processing samples, and this individual will be responsible for the quality assurance protocols in the clinical pathology section. In addition, a small proportion of time will be spent helping to prepare teaching laboratories for veterinary students, and assisting in instruction of students during laboratory classes.
Responsibilities:
Perform clinical diagnostic laboratory tests; record and evaluate test results; contact appropriate personnel for tests with unusual or critical findings. Assure that quality control requirements are met to validate test results, record data as part of a quality assurance program. Assist in the development and evaluation of new procedures. Prepare and verify the quality of reagents, standards, and control samples. Utilize institution-based computer system for test result entry and data acquisition. Calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform routine and emergency preventative maintenance to laboratory instruments and related equipment. Assist in teaching of second year veterinary students. Shipping and receiving of clinical pathology related items.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Completion of a bachelor's degree program as a Medical Technologist (MT) or a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) is required. Applicants must be ASCP certified or eligible. On site training in evaluation of animal samples will be provided. Starting date for the successful candidate is negotiable and new graduates will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications At least 2 years working with hematology (ADVIA 120), biochemistry (Olympus AU 480, Cobas, or Dimension analyzers), and immunoanalyzers.
Experience preparing and reviewing veterinary samples.
Active participation in accredited quality control programs.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
